The plight of children in developing countries is alarming. Of the 24,000 people that die daily from hunger and hunger related causes, 18,000 are children, suffering from hunger, lack of drinking water, and malnutrition.

Many more are stuck in the mire of poverty, with no clear hope for their future, stuck in a cycle that keeps repeating. But you can make a difference. Through child sponsorship, you can provide a child hope for their future, giving them access to opportunities they never had.

Education by extension comes alongside our child sponsorship program and provides a necessary foundation to help educate children and break the cycle of poverty. Our child survival outreach addresses health and nutrition issues prevalent in impoverished communities.

H.E.A.R.T - Health Emergency Action Response Team
In developing countries, medical care is often beyond the reach of many families. As a result, numerous children who suffer from life-threatening diseases often die without a fight because parents cannot afford the expensive medical treatment. Food for the Hungry’s Health Emergency Action Response Team (HEART) fund was developed to provide financial assistance to children who have medical conditions that require urgent surgery or therapeutic intervention. The HEART fund consists solely of financial contributions from people who have a heart for suffering children. When a child is diagnosed with a serious health problem, Food for the Hungry’s country director can apply for the fund and once approved, an amount is earmarked for the much-needed and often life-saving operation or treatment.

You will receive a photo, bi-annual progress reports, a sponsorship guide and opportunities to directly communicate with your child through email or regular mail.

Give to Child Survival	Child Survival Fund Children in impoverished communities suffer from malnutrition, diarrhea, poor health and sanitation. This program addresses the extreme circumstances children face by providing the skills, tools, and training to mothers to care for their children; increasing access to community health providers, and raising up mothers that train other mothers how to care for their children.

Give to Education by Extension	Education by Extension This donation type comes alongside our child sponsorship to provide additional support to impoverished families and communities, and to help children gain education and skills needed to break the vicious cycle of poverty. The goal of education by extension is to improve literacy and decrease poverty.
